Over my 20 years of playing bass, I’ve had the opportunity to perform and record with a wide variety of instruments, but my Citizen Model JC-5 FF has truly stood out.

One moment that really confirmed what this bass could do was during a recent recording session for Christian artist Valerie Eileen, the song opens with a single bass note, and hearing that ring out in the final mix was unforgettable. It was rich, full, and sat perfectly in the track. 

The response I get from sound engineers is always the same. They love how naturally the JC-5 fits into a mix. It has a balanced, articulate tone that requires very little work to sound great. That recording didn’t change my understanding of the bass player’s role, it reaffirmed it.
